WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The South Carolina women’s soccer team fell 3-0 to Wake Forest Sunday at Spry Soccer Stadium in Winston-Salem, N.C.
The Gamecocks (1-1-0) saw 22 players hit the field, with senior Reagan Schubach playing the full 90 minutes. Wake Forest’s two second-half goals put the game away.
The Demon Deacons (2-0-0) took a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute of the match, as they sneaked a shot into the upper left corner of the net from the top of the 18.
USC had a couple of opportunities to tie the match in the first half, but it was unable to get the ball in the goal.
The Gamecocks came into the second half with new energy, getting off two back-to-back shots from senior transfer Sydney Middaugh and junior Avery Galante, but a Wake Forest defender blocked both attempts.
The Demon Deacons added two more goals in the 70th and 80th minutes to secure their second win of the season. South Carolina goalkeeper Christina Tsaousis finished the match with four saves.
